Mistakes in Preparations

Please mention your mistakes you've done in your preparation period for companies as a fresher. As I am a fresher, so that I can avoid those problems at first.

Not my mistakes but I've seen others make them. Mostly applicable for software roles.

  1. Avoiding software development and only focusing on competitive coding. Strike a balance. You open many doors when you have a portfolio of actual products.
  2. Assuming your classroom knowledge would get you a job. It won't. If you're from a CS branch then the subjects you learn are important for fundamentals but not enough to get you a good job.
  3. Hoping things would work out eventually without actually doing anything. They won't if you don't work for it.
  4. Following blindly what everyone else is doing. Be it competitive coding, web3, AI or anything else. Do your own research and decide for yourself on what fits you. You won't stand out in a crowded place if you're not great at what you do.
