Microsoft Enterprise commerce C+AI referrals

I reached out to one of my friends working in Microsoft asking him to refer me. He said that referrals don't even get interview calls unless it is done for a particular team directly to the manager.

Any microsoft people here? How to get interview calls? What are we missing?
