Though I'm curious what's the point of doing a buy back at this time. This can't be related to secondary sales as it does not involve the company in between. It's between the investors only.

The buyback is being done at a discounted value of ~30%. If you need cash do sell the shares at a price lesser than when you were allocated else hold it till IPO. A lot of folks are confused whether or not to sell due to the discount factor.
Why tf did they do layoffs?
It's at a lower valuation btw than 5.5Bn
