MBA Profile Evaluation and Suggestion

Asking this for a friend.

SHE:

  • Senior Risk Analyst | 4 years WorkEx | American Express.
  • Graduate from an old IIT.
  • Reason - MBA ideally from abroad, for exposure, foreign tag and global opportunities.
  • Wants to come back to India, maximum 2 years after MBA completion.

Profile:

  • GMAT Classic = 710
  • 9/9/8 in X/XII/undergrad
  • Planning to do some side NGO work

Post-MBA desired roles:

  • Roles with intersection of finance and analytics.
  • Research based roles
  • Strategy Roles
  • Not Consulting, IB, or Corporate Finance

Query 1: Considering her profile, does she have a chance to bag an MBA admit from the following with little scholarship:

  • LBS
  • Insead
  • HEC Paris
  • Oxford
  • Cambridge
  • SDA Bocconi
  • NUS Singapore
  • IESE
  • ISB
  • Are there other good schools, she can Target?

She's targeting 1 year programs only for cost purposes, hence the US is out of the picture. Feel free to suggest good 1 yr US programs

Query 2: Is it worth considering ISB MBA or IIM A PGPX, are they good and any comparison between the two?

Query 3: Should she reappear for GMAT, if her score is not good enough? How else can she build her profile? Any consultant she can refer to based on your personal experience?

I wouldnโ€™t consider myself fit for Oxford or LBS

Q1 - I see good chances for HEC, Oxford, NUS, iSB; would put - LBS, Insead in doable range.

Q2 - I donโ€™t how to define โ€˜worthโ€™ of any B-school but if long term goal is to be in India, doing an MBA from local school helps bit more. PGPX attracts bit higher experiences crowd targeted towards general management, IT services management roles (growing YoY) and ISB adds more fresh crowd targeted towards (majorly) consulting and PM (recent years)

Q3 - A reattempt for 720+ will increase the probabilities much.
