Maybe software engineering skills can be used outside of work as well after all

The other day, I applied a job skill to real life on the Kaveri website, which issues marriage and birth certificates in Karnataka. During the application process at one stage, it wouldn't submit or advance, showing no error. After 30 minutes of reloading, clearing cache, and refilling, i gave up thinking I thought website crashed.

After a while, I opened the browser console and spotted a validation error in an early field from a previous stage, how would someone even guess that's the issue!!? Anyways, i fixed it, and the application got submitted successfully. It's so sad how poorly designed these government sites are, but my dev skills saved the day. 😂
