Massive layoffs at PocketFM- turns out the founder’s “no one will be affected” speech was just a PR farce. 150+ employees being let go

What an absolute circus. Over 150 people are being shown the door at Pocket FM this week — conveniently branded as “contract employees whose terms won’t be renewed.” Let’s not sugarcoat it: these are layoffs.

And the irony? Just weeks ago, the founder CEO himself stood in an internal townhall saying no one — not full-time, not freelancers, not contractors — would be impacted. That assurance clearly aged like milk.

This is being called “Round 1” for a reason. While the spotlight’s on contractors right now, the writing’s on the wall for full-timers too. Multiple senior-level exits are already happening behind the scenes, and several business folks are said to be next. The energy inside feels... hollow. Like everyone’s waiting for the next list to drop.

Hundreds of people were kept in the dark for months — reassured, silenced, and made to believe the worst was over. They could’ve used that time to find jobs, plan transitions, or simply brace for impact.
