Market Value of a Data Engg with 4 years Exp
Hey guys,
I’m a data engineer with 4 years of experience, currently I’m in my appraisal cycle and wanted to get an understanding of the market standards (ctc/variable/esops). I have experience in Advance Excel, SQL, Redshift, Tableau, Metabase, Jira and Git.

Your tech stack looks less like a DE and more like a data analyst.

whats the diff b/w the two?

The roles are quite self explanatory.
A data analyst mainly focuses on analysing, visualising and interpreting data and hence mostly you'll see required skill sets of Excel(analysis), tableau/similar tool(visualising) and SQL is almost always required for data roles for obvious reasons.
A data engineer handles (ingestion, storage etc), tests and maintains data by ETL pipelines and other tools so skills required would by spark/pyspark, Hadoop, SQL etc.
Hope this helps

DE who does Excel Tableu?? Are you sure you are not a data analyst? DE top skills are python, advanced SQL, Spark, ETL stuff

With more llm models tools it will give tough competition to hikes way forward

CCTC : 11Lpa+10% variable and rsu
