Trending @Infosys; Manager trying to Retain me with the conditions

Hello Folks,

I need your inputs here.

Consider that I am from Unit A, and this Unit has somehow asked us to Join other projects other than Unit A projects due to project crunches. So, currently I am working in a project which is under Unit B. So the manager from Unit B says that he can retain me with around 40 to 50 % hikes. But he keeps one condition that as I am from Unit A, I cant directly retain you, you need to take transfer from Unit A to Unit B. Check with your supervisor from Unit A and ask for transfer. Once transferred , manager will check with his DM for retention in next quarter.

Can you guys suggest what can I do here? Is the above mentioned is correct?

He is right that he can’t get you hike if you are not from his unit. Whatever he says after that doesn’t matter if he wants to retain you let him do the leg work to get you transferred in a month and get the hike letter in next. Assuming you have 2 more months. No point waiting for a quarter .

Managers promise is total lie.
He can do only 2 things, one is to retain you with max 20 percent hike or 2lacs retaintion bonus.

Whatever he is promising ask him to deliver by this month end else no benefit to your loyalty

In the organisation all units work like independent shops.. they might want to poach talent from one shop to another but they are bound by same rules set up by bada dada of entire area where shops are operating. so don't go into trap.. if one shop wants retain you they will do everything to retain you but no shop owner can go against the rule of dada of that area.

He shouldn't be worried to retain you, it's your unit who is charging to unit B for your project work under unit B...so It's unit A responsibility to retain you not unit B...unit B should only be concerned about their job getting done...he is trapping you, if you unit manager is not showing interest to you for retain then I think whatever unit B manager is saying is a lie or he will over turn the statment on the name of company/ unit policy and you will not be hiked

If you don't have any plan to put papers & no issues with your current Unit B manager unit transfer is a simple task actual thing is does can he really offer 40-50 that's the actual question. Ask him to give in formal mail or if don't have any issue with hike then you can even work under unit B manager without issues right.
