Manager is not approving leaves, what should I do?
I am the only person in the team for the skill set and my manager is not approving my planned leaves by saying whom you are going to handover your work? He already know about it, what should be done in this condition from my side?
Put it on your email, what ever discuss with him like as discussed....and ask him to provide person/ Resource and for handover. With CC his manager. If he replied positively then fine, if they come with negatively then escalate to HR
Should he enable a backup for you ? Yes Is he doing it ? No
Should you be waiting for his approval to take leaves ? No
Apply for leave, mail - As discussed, I'll be on leave on xyz due to xyz reasons. And then just don't turn up. It's not school that you've to wait for approval. It's just an intimation and he should be professional enough to understand it. 🥂
I have seen many cases where manager do not approve leaves and it causes deductions (leave without pay) . my manager is not trying to find any resources. Now I don't want LWP as I am happy to provide handover, it should be manager's responsibility to find a backup plan.
