During the interview process, interviewers not only provide feedback but also enter their assessment of the candidate’s perceived months of experience (MAL). The final interviewer has the opportunity to review or update this number based on their own evaluation.

For example, if your MAL shows as 25 months after just 7 months in the role, it likely means the final interviewer entered a perceived MAL of 18 months. This perceived experience can support your manager in building a stronger case for your promotion when you become eligible.
