Luck really matters a lot in career

Working as a Java developer, have switched 2 companies now, but still cant catchup to the cousin who got ahead just because their skill is more in demand thats is data scientist. I dont even have the interest to do work or switch anymore. The hike I make thru switching he makes it thru just their annual hikes. He just got into a company, stuck in that and getting hikes like crazy whereas even after switching pbcs I cant get that much. Comparisons are getting way above my head, everytime I get a offer and so, I have to hear " its still less than what cousin makes ". All excitement goes down the drain. I like coding but this pay thing really is getting worse. Have to know so much as a developer but just cant match data role becomes that's in demand.

Don’t measure your journey using someone else’s path.

Yeah, previously I had thought pay depends on how good are you on your skill but didn't knew all depends on what type of skill it is

Switching PBCs won’t get you that much😂 are u sure? its seems you are in accenture… that’s why you are thinking like that. My brother is earning 1.2cr/annum being in Software dev field in PBC only. I know Data scientists are getting more , because its a cutting edge tech. But you can learn , switch to Pbc … my brother even cracked Meta(USA) due to visa issue he could move abroad. Meta was providing him insane ctc . Don’t compare . Just do your thing. Never ever stick to a service based company like me … NEVER EVER.

What's wrong with service based they also work indirectly for pbc clients, only pay is the issue right

I have 6 years of working experience in the field of DS. I have changed 6 firms till now. I can say luck will favour you if you have the right and strong mindset. We are what we do and believe in. If you believe that everything will be great for you and your mentally strong to handle the ups and down in life, luck will favour you but you have to really believe in it thick and through

How did you justify switching so often? Plus with frequent switches its so hard to get a good hike...how did you manage it?

I am currently at 1.5 CR. Nothing is hard if you can justify it with your skills.

Comparison is the thief of joy. For once, forget about your cousin and his salary and ask yourself "Am I happy in life with whatever I'm earning and whatever I have?" Work harder 💪 all the best!

Don't compare. Life's like a sin wave graph, either you are at the top or bottom but each spike/fall isn't consistent. At the moment my career just started and now I'm at home for 3 months now just applying while all of my peers are earning well and getting promoted, and I honestly don't care. I don't let this noise take over me. I'm focused on myself and I know that the last 2 years working as a founding engineer would pay me back. I'm just waiting but not stopping upskilling.

G&)d kahe jal rhi tumhari? How much is he earning—10L, 30L, 60L, 1Cr, 10Cr? Work hard, you can get there too. Stop ranting. everybody gets fair salary if not eventually they’ll get

Arey bhai gand ny jalri but whenever I go to his house on weekdays he is either gaming or sleeping. He doesn't even have to work on weekends. Full wfh. In family too everyone thinks he is the smartest because of ctc and not working always which is opposite to me who has to work even on weekends too. Ek shaadi pe aya ny tha toh uske parents ne literally bola tha ki itna Kam karta hai toh ctc kyu ny hai unke bete jitni, ky bolu unko ki usko bas in demand field mili hai isliye itna milra usko

That's not luck, that's strategy...

Cousin chose a path that pays more, you chose an easy path..

Every third person in Indian IT calls them Java developer, they think copy paste from stack overflow and leet code is java.

What's your YOE, CTC ?

GigglyBurrito

No body chooses path, the companies assigns path. It's your luck which you are put into.

I don't think you can be simply and randomly get assigned to a data scientist role without having certain knowledge of it.
Either via experience or via courses or through your qualifications.

And you, yourself have switched twice.. so you are in your third company. Who stopped you from moving to a different domain whichever is in demand and high paying.

You are not branded with Java.

I'm earning 25k per month and my cousin earning 1.5l per month what shall I do. Comparing with him not gonna make any difference. What we were going to do is matters the most (in our life)
