Yes it depends a lot on the context but in my personal experience which I realised late is that to grow you have to keep switching once in a while (not saying every year or at any other fixed frequency).

I agree. Shared this to bring another perspective. May not happen with everyone but I know people who have grown a lot with time in same company. Compensation wise they are adjusted when they climb up the ladder.
