I am in C2 band now . The last promotion was in 2021 . This year I got A band and MLT is complete for me. Shall I ask my manager for promotion? Confused as most of the layoffs are targeted to C3 and above . Completed E2 in Data Science and contributed in multiple AI projects apart from client works.
Also the current project is not in a good shape . Most of the teams have got dissolved and the client is trying hard to remove dependency from my team as well. In my appraisal manager mentioned the client has bot dissolved the team as they have dependency on mr . Discussed this manager . He said they have projects and they will pull in case the team is dissolved . My cannot rely much on his words because of the layoff situation
I am trying to get jobs outside TCS , but not getting much calls .
Shall I keep quiet till the situation becomes better ?

Also what is your skillset.. as you have contributed to AI projects.. you should be getting calls
No MLT before 10 years ofcourse. Given his expertise, they might move him to a different team. @Codeeunseen Your skills appears to be aligned with what market is looking for now. Don't stay in TCS, you should know your worth. If there is no dependency on you. Try looking for a job outside and update on Naukri as 30 days notice period. This will help you evaluate your skills in the market and prep you. If you get selected, try to negotiate with tcs for early exit and it may happen given the current scenario (Remember to put medical emergency as an excuse) Let's say it does not happen, Still resign and start doing offer shopping !
Would suggest to be there upto C2 grade as much as possible, you will get 100% QVA. From C3A and above it will be deducted and that is also not defined by any percentage.
My skillset is of a DBA (Oracle , Snowflake, Netezza , MySQL ) with Data Science knowledge ( did M.Tech in DataScience) and AWS .
I am from Kolkata location. None of the managers here speak clearly . When I asked for promotion, he mentioned we are trying but cannot say anything to you . Its against policy. Before the layoff situation, I requested for release multiple times , as I wanted to work in AI projects but they did not release me . And now I dont have guts to ask for release.
Yes . I got late promotion as I had changed my location in my first promotion cycle with Cognizant .
