Looking for Advice: Should I Follow Up Again or Move On?

Hi everyone, I’m seeking some advice on navigating a recruitment process.

Here’s the situation:

  • On January 11, I received an email from a recruiter from ZS inviting me to participate in a case study assessment for the job role DAA (Decision Analytics Associate), with a deadline to submit by January 13.
  • I promptly acknowledged the email, attached my updated resume, and submitted the assessment before the deadline.
  • By January 20, I hadn’t received any updates, so I sent a polite follow-up email to check on the status of my application.

However, it’s now been over 10 days, and I still haven’t heard back. On the ZS career portal, my application status for the role is still listed as “Submission Received.”

I’m wondering:

  • Should I send another follow-up, or would that come across as too persistent?
  • After this much time with no communication, should I assume I’m no longer being considered for the role?
  • How long is it reasonable to wait before moving on, even if the status hasn’t been updated?

I’d love to hear your thoughts or experiences with situations like this. How do you approach follow-ups or silence during the recruitment process?

Thank you in advance for your advice!

It’s definitely reasonable to send a polite follow-up, as long as it’s phrased professionally and acknowledges their time constraints. After this much time, they may be reviewing candidates, but you shouldn’t assume you're out yet. A follow-up every 7-10 days is fair. If no response after a couple of attempts, it’s time to move on and keep exploring other opportunities.

After around 15 days I received a rejection email. So I guess @majboormajdoor was right all along

Move on.

Most likely they are interviewing backups in case their selected candidate backs out.

Rule since 2022: If you are being considered, HR will reach out.

I have given all 4 rounds of ZS, and the final interview was on March 28th. Still waiting for the result.
