Looking for Advice: Moving from Technical Roles to Business / Techno-Functional Roles in TCS
I’m looking for honest guidance from people who’ve been through something similar. I have ~10 years of experience, have switched 5 companies, and am currently working at TCS. Over the years, I’ve realized that while I can do technical work and have delivered on it, I’ve never truly enjoyed hands-on tech roles (coding, deep technical problem-solving, etc.). It has consistently brought stress and anxiety rather than satisfaction.
I’ve accepted that this is more about fit than capability. I now want to move toward a non–hands-on-technical role such as Business Analyst, Technical Program Manager, or a techno-functional/functional role. I’m currently part of one practice team and working on a project in a different city.
My question to the community: is it realistically possible within TCS to shift from a technical role to a business/techno-functional/functional role or even change domains? If yes, what is the practical way to approach this—whom to talk to, what steps actually work, and what to avoid? Looking for real experiences and honest advice.
In tcs its a nuisance to do what your trying to do without a Godfather (Some leader who backs you)....
I had friends and colleagues in tcs facing the same issue of stress and anxiety... what really helped them was getting out of tcs...
Option 1: But you if really what to give a shot... you should contact delivery managers about an opening for an Agile Coach or Scrum manager... you should have contacts as you are from pratice team of delivery managers or heads...
Option 2: You can also go on the bench now and update your role project manager with rmg since there are lot of openings due to the extreme high attrition rate....

Yes you can . You need to release to RMG and update your skill as per BA and scrum master positions.Then you may get calls related to those profiles. Inside same project it’s quite difficult.
