Long Term Plans: Stay in the US or come back?
Hey everyone! I find myself at a crossroad and would love to hear your thoughts. I've been studying in the US for almost two years now. I’ve received an offer from one of the Big4’s, but the idea of returning to India has been on my mind recently. I do want to work in the US for a while to understand their work culture but I am wondering if I should stay there or come back to India after a few years?
What do you think I should do? Feel free to share your experiences and insights! Your input means a lot to me.
I would offer a contra opinion here.
Which of these choices is reversible? If you can postpone your homecoming by a couple of years, you would not have the FOMO later. But if you leave the current job offer, it is unlikely or improbable that you would get another US job after you have come back
Honestly, this makes so much sense. I can always choose to come back later but going back to the US at a later point will be near impossible.
I believe India will be the next epicenter for the IT industry. More opportunities will be there in India in the coming time. Plus living in India as a software engineer or a product manager is worth the PPP of the country.
India is definitely producing some very high level software engineers and software companies. I’ll definitely take this into account.

It appears that India is having a brief moment in history where it can become better than anyone.
It happens once in a nation’s cycle. And then in another, periodically.
It is about the fact that you want to be part of a great experiment and see what happens to this country?
Both offer a win. It’s just the journey you want to choose.
That’s very true. I do believe that India is on its way to success and being a part of this journey will make me very proud. I guess I just have to wait and see where my career leads me.
