Long term dating- preferences

There is no one-answer-fits-all advice for this.
First and foremost, it depends on you and your family's outlook on these matters. If your partner is from another faith, then it's a whole different ball game. No matter how liberal your parents are, many of them still won't be comfortable with that.

Or - if you wanna play it safe, dating/marrying someone within your community is a good bet. Although there's no guarantee of its success, it'll reduce a lot of uncertainties.
