Let’s talk about job switches and layoffs - and what really needs to change

Between 2022 and 2025, many professionals have change jobs. Some even multiple times. And I believe it’s time we shift the narrative around this.

It’s not always the employee leaving the company — sometimes, it’s the company that leaves the employee. We’ve all seen it: • Public layoffs announced in the news, • Silent exits without noise or closure, • Political reshuffles disguised as “performance decisions.”

And through all of this, resumes are judged by the number of switches instead of the context behind them. That’s not fair. That’s not human.

Let’s not forget: companies are built by people, for people, and because of people. Yes, AI is powerful. Yes, it will change the future of work. But if the future of work is only AI — then maybe it’s time we start our own AI-run companies too. Right?

Upskilling is important. But creating a culture of fear and insecurity isn’t the same as preparing for the future. We need to support each other more now — not less. We need to: • Refer people proactively • Uplift those impacted • Share opportunities • Stand together as humans behind the tech

Because behind every “switch” is a story. And behind every role is a person who deserves respect, not judgment.

Tomorrow is could be You. Let’s build a better, kinder ecosystem. Together. 💙
