Leisure Travellers: what are your pain points?

When you travel for leisure, what are your major pain points and how do you mitigate these? Do you plan your travels meticulously or do you just use a travel agent?

  1. travel planning and booking - 90% on my own, except visa agent for painful places like us, Uk
  2. main pain point - avoiding tourist traps in other countries and going to places locals like/go to. This takes either more research or asking friendly locals there like receptionists at hotel/hostel or airbnb host

Makes sense, I've heard scams even in many places in Europe. How do you organise all that information when you plan? Excel?
