Layoffs at Zomato!

Looks like Zomato is at it again - quarterly layoffs (pun intended). Have come to know from a current employee that they are firing people with great skill set and work only because they are at a higher CTC and are replacing older folks with new freshers at a lower pay. Zomato never fails to surprise.

Corporate layoffs are the only path to profitability for these companies.

Uber and Zomato are extremely useful in the market. But still haven't managed to generate profits consistently.

They know they can't get more money out of customers, they also know they can't reduce pay of drivers, the only place to cut costs is corporate functions.

Considering that their app and product etc is largely mature and stable now, they don't even need a very big tech team as compared to when they were growing and acquiring market share.
