Layoffs ain't worrying anymore.
Farmers can afford range rover nowadays.
My iima grad says that he can buy a benz only if education loans are paid off.
Welcome to India, where corporate mazdoor pays 31% tax but a farmer will pay 0% nonetheless also get...
- Free electricity
- Free fertilizer
- Free dbt
I can be a farmer and operate a d2c brand to sell those to fellow grapeviners :D
Keeping startup bug alive is also important along with showing 🖕 to biased direct tax system

Punjab, Haryana, western UP farmers perhaps and that too the big guys. The ones with less than 5acres and all can’t afford even tractors.

I know this...
Who has stopped the government to tax 5 acres plus landowning farmers?
Reduce pain in the ass of corporate White collars using that money

UP has fewer rich farmers compared to Punjab, Haryana (difference becomes even starker when compared per capita). We normally associated farmers from westernmost UP with all of UP but UP is actually huge and other parts of UP have poorer farmers in much larger numbers.

What is preventing you from quitting the TCS job, becoming a farmer and buying a range rover ? If India gives such generous offers, you can take that, right ?

Removing electricity and fertilizer subsidies will increase the cost of food. For example, electricity subsidy is around 12k crores a year, and we provide free ration to 80 Cr ppl. a year at a cost of approx 15K cr a year. thus your food subsidy bill would balloon to more than 20kCrs at least while the rest will be put towards inflated food prices.

Give consumers money and not farmers. Let the price be like what the market decides.
Subsidy is paralyzing farmers in long run.
We are losing ground water fast, coz most grow wheat and paddy only for msp.
In usa only 1 % do farming, in India it's still 40%.
We need to change this... Singapore and Japan don't Grow a lot of food but are more developed.

@Sherlock007 none of those countries have 80Cr (55%) people who have to be fed by the government. and US comparison is incorrect, they have one third the population and 3x the land compared to India. plus even they have a ton of farm protection laws in place. No country, can outsource their food security. period. Also removing subsidies would INCREASE food pricing thereby decreasing money in the hand of consumers. finally, are u for or against capitalism? because We are one of the biggest rice exporters in the world, which does bring in more dollars and Forex..

I agree that there are many obsenely rich farmers in Punjab-Haryana and westernmost UP - many of them have vested interests in supporting these protests.
But the average farmer in North India (including most of the huge state of UP) is very poor and barely making ends meet (my family too). These rich farmers keep getting richer year on year using price gouging, tax evasion, labour exploitation and what not.
Only these big farmers have the time and means to be able to stage these protests and riots. Our poor farmers are barely surviving and cannot afford to do the same.

Agree...I said about those having 10acres+

Bhai kheti kro, kyu time waste kr rhe yha. You assumption is true for a very selective small farmers base, but you ain't know nothing about the bigger part, sherlock homes. UX guys pls tell me which bias it would fall under??

You comment felt like the same godi media which tells farmers are eating pizzas in farm bill protest , so they are so well off. Bhai kitna generalise kroge
