Layoff severely breaks confidence

I've been laidoff, searching for a job. Had stepped out for a walk and I saw my school teacher crossing the road from the other side. I, being a person who always talks to people, turned my face and sneaked away, not having the confidence to tell someone that I'm unemployed if asked. Feels bad. 🥲

unemployed is a state of time buddy, hold your head high, you will find a job eventually, not the end of the world

I recently got laid off from Microsoft, that too on the day of my parents anniversary. While it was difficult for the first few days, i accepted the situation and have been joking about it since with my friends to blow off some steam. Thankfully got a new job this week with a good hike as well, but i can understand what you have been feeling and it's really awful. I hope you get a good job soon and all this can be a thing of the past. I do have wild thoughts though of pooling all the laid off folks and starting something kick-ass which would make these companies who laid off people jealous!

While it may sound "easy to say, difficult to do" types but I would suggest to accept the situation and consider it to be very normal situation. Once you have come on an agreement that it's very normal situation, thereafter talk and tell others whom you meet and joke about the layoff. Let's normalise layoffs. It's just a temporary phase and this too shall pass in a couple of months.

It’s natural and it’ll pass. Imagine 8+ years working in same company being laid off, what they might feel. It’s a different ball game for them and they’ve to look deeper within if they attached their identity too much to the job.

Been in a similar situation.

I only learnt is - love your job, not the company or the people in it, even your colleagues.

Situations change, people change and nothing is in our control. Just love your job whatever you do and keep learning / growing in it. Surely your skills will help you anytime/anywhere than the company or people in it.

Start Meditation and some Breathing Exercises to channelise the negative emotions in a way to make you stronger 💪. I have also been in a similar situation and doing Sudarshan Kriya by Art of Living greatly helped. Please give it a try

Don’t be hard on yourself, it might be hard right now but these things are always a part of our life Next time you meet someone just tell them what happened, who know it might be a beginning of something new

Your job ain't your identity. Understand this. Life has more meanings, job is just a part of it.

I was laid off on Thanksgiving day!

It's all about perspective, would you be embarrassed if you yourself decided to take time off.
