Laptop suggestions

I am planning to buy a laptop for personal work. My work would be-

  • learning new tech(small POCs) on weekends
  • freelance work UI heavy(once a month if any)
  • content consumption (music/OTT)
  • storage (need to store personal files)

My work laptop given by my company is a M4 pro. So I was more inclined towards M4 air(16gb + 256gb). But I feel that considering my usage it would not be worth spending ~83K just for a laptop.

Can someone suggest a good laptop? Would love to hear some feedback if you own a similar laptop.

Thanks!

I bought Macbook Air M1 chip in 2020. Still works like a charm, you’ll feel its expensive but it’s totally worth it.

MacBook Air M4 is prolly the most value for money laptop ever. Works like a charm and should work for 6-8 years on medium use easy

Do not go for 256 GB variants. At least 512 GB if at all.

My suggestion : Go for an older mac - even M1 would do, but atleast 16 GB ram and 512 gb ssd. The more the better. Skip M3s.

Why to skip m3?

Problem is Apply charges unreasonably high price for storage upgrades. I feel its better to buy a high speed external SSD for that price

I recently bought M4 air as a developer , I m in love of that machine. My productivity and excitement to develop passion projects has increased a lot. Amazing machine. Extremely thin and light with super power.

Try a used machine mini in case mobility is not needed. There are good ones available in the second hand market. Else, a used macbook air would do too. On the windows side, I would recommend commend the Samsung one

Samsung galaxy books are also great, you can visit any samsung store nearby and give it a try.
If you are looking for windows one as you already have company mac.

I mean, you can start from looking at the specs the UI heavy software recommends. Because if you are doing rendering work then an Integrated GC will not be the best choice.

(i7 / 32GB ram / 512ssb), price 60k
