Laptop Return at LTIMindtree during F&F

It’s disheartening to see such practices where employees are charged exorbitantly for minor damages, especially when the item in question, like a laptop, is already used. Charging ₹20,000 for a barely visible broken corner is not only excessive but also seems unfair if the damage is negligible and doesn’t impact functionality.

In cases like these, organizations like LTIMindtree appear to be exploiting minor issues as a revenue-generating opportunity rather than being reasonable and fair with their employees. This kind of approach undermines trust and goodwill within the workforce, creating resentment rather than fostering a healthy work culture.

It’s essential for companies to establish transparent policies for such cases, considering factors like:

Pre-existing Condition: If the laptop was already used, normal wear and tear or minor cosmetic damages should be expected, and employees shouldn’t be held fully accountable.

Proportional Charges: The repair or replacement cost should be fairly evaluated and charged proportionally, not arbitrarily inflated to profit from employees.

Communication and Review: Employees should have a fair chance to discuss or contest such charges through proper grievance channels.
