Such a worst management in TCS, they are calling 5 days in the office but need to carry a laptop and if anything happens with it then the employee should repair it on its own. I want to ask WHY

Add a claim in claim section and ask your manager to support you to speak to PL.

If PL approves it . It should reimburse. Totally depends on his call

Simply state that you met with an accident on your way home in which it got broken. If still they didn't agree then ask them to give in written and also to provide a safe keeping place to leave your laptop in office going forward, so that you shouldn't face any scenario like this in future.

In this case they will deduct 16K from your full and fill settlement.

Visit your local IS team and get the details of insurance and try to claim as much as possible.

Lcd doesn’t come in insurance they are saying its out of warranty and not insured

So if your work is impacting the project, they’ll approve it .. else they’ll not.. as it’s cost would be deducted from the project

@AdoredBrace be very careful in what you say during an HR + Business meeting. State a cause which they cannot counter you for like an accident or mishap and simply request a replacement to carry on with your activities. Do not get into an argument or defensive mode trying to convince that you're not at fault. You need to project that it was out of your control. If they still insist on you paying for the damages, ask them to communicate the same over email and then forward it to the unit head or unit HR escalating your concern.

Is it damaged by your mistake? If yes, then there is nothing you could do. You need to pay for it. TCS will deduct the price by your monthly salary as an installment. A similar thing has happened to one of my colleagues.
