Hey, I've been affected by a similar thing. Was because I was at a startup and they were not doing well. Sorry to be honest - I feel 1 year reflects you are not as hungry for a job, because all people I know did find something when their savings started getting depleted
Are you being very picky in terms of pay and companies and roles?

sorry to be that guy but can you help a .5x dev with a referral

The quality of options is bad and the unsteady nature of companies where I'm looking for a long term commitment is not something I'm getting confidence in.

Give us some stats if you can How are you applying (pls tell me it's referrals/cold emails) and not just easy apply/on websites? How many first interviews have you had in 12 months? How many times has it dropped off towards the end, and why?
Would love to help but more info needed bro

Which role were you in within Amazon?

Bro, you're from amazon. You can easliy land interview calls.
Ig you're being too picky with the pay here. That mighr be creating an issue.
Feel free to clear the air here, I'm just assuming.

Ofc, fat paycheck of amazon will be an issue.
Assume you're lucky and pretty skilled then you can get 20% down that pay easily within 1 yr, i guess. But Author can tell better here. Just the assumptions from our end.

Sorry about the struggle, but I do hope you come out stronger from it

tell me you didn't get lazy because of the severance package you got

Less is better than nothing, even if the pay is 10-20% less accept it and go from there to increase within couple of years, also keep the salary field blank in the naukri or other platforms, can negotiate after interviews. Also if firing reason was something related to discipline or anything, be honest about it.
