Job situation

I am working in a company where I am pretty chill with the people. I have been offered and accepted a position at another company which offered me a 50% pay hike. I was inteoduced to that person from the current employer a while ago.

Is it ok to leave amid massive layoffs? I do wfh as my mother is unwell. Will it be difficult to find another one if this fails?

Hi op

1/ How is the business model of the company B (one which gave you offer) are they profitable? Do they have a good reputation? How much cash reserve do they have? 2/ firing most of the times is last in first out. So yeah it gets difficult to know who will be axed. 3/ now is not a good time to negotiate with current employer in case you are just fishing. Be extremely sure before you disclose to current employer anything.

^This. Do gather this information from your current and potential employer and decide on which company is better.

It'd be easier for us to help you if you post what the offers are like.

They are a services company. Recently started by some people who have a lot of experience and and funds.

I'm not fishing for an offer.

Just scared if I leave then what happens.

Is the new company you are going to profitable?

If they’re not profitable do they have enough cash for the next 2-3 years?

If all of the above are true I don’t see a problem with you joining this company.

Stay in the same one. Take the hike. Then apply again for others one in 2 months. There is no loyalty game here.
