ITSR project in ibm

Hey everyone, I just need to vent and get some perspective.

I recently got pulled into an ITSR Secure Area project. I was told it would be a development role, but once I joined, I realized it’s actually more of a data support role. My background is in DevOps, and I was initially working as a DevSecOps Engineer in the same USAA project (from April to August). But due to cost cutting, that project got scrapped, and now they’ve shifted us here.

Honestly, I’m finding it really hard to stay motivated. The work doesn’t align with my interests or skill set — I have almost zero interest in what I’m doing right now. On top of that, it’s a secure area, so I have to be in office five days a week and can’t leave before 10:30 PM. I reach home around 11, and it’s becoming mentally exhausting.

Has anyone been in a similar situation? Is there any realistic way to come out of such a project internally, or should I start looking for new opportunities outside? I’ve only been here since April, so I’m not sure what’s the right move.

Would really appreciate any advice or experiences from others who’ve been through something like this.
