IT is getting brutal day by day
With AI and lower demand + highest supply of graduates, IT is getting brutal day by day. Layoffs, no hikes, no promotion or dry promotion, lower resignations have made us defensive. People have turned against each other as there are very few opportunities. Bad politics, pushing boundaries and less reluctance to say no has made it worse.
This is one of the worst time in decades excluding initial phase or COVID. This happens everytime there is a slowdown cycle. If a boom comes in, which is also not sure this time, the pressure might ease out but we would be squeezed till that time. In 2010, 2015 and 2020 everybody knew this will come back bcoz it was a cycle. Right now it is not sure bcoz of AI.

I know many people in phonepe They always get interviews easily and have also switched to faang companies with higher pay
Don't what you're talking about

Within companies even though people are getting salary. Engineers were respected rather than commoditized. People who have not seen before 2015 or before 2020 won't understand. 2022 Engineers were spoiled but it was not this bad even in 2015.

You are thinking on very superficial level 1 interview call or layoff by few companies. There is a significant culture shift in industry which is being pointed out.

Its the same thing going through my head. The situation is real.
