Isnt the cooling period a complete waste.

I know companies kept a standard for more preparation. Buy why these companies are not understanding that the interview is 50% preparation and 50% luck. Even the top talents can be rejected and the average talents may be selected. 1 months cooling period is ok but 4 months, 6 months, that goes over my head.

Cooling off period makes sense from the PoV of the company, because it gives different candidates from a wider talent pool a chance to interview at the company, instead of a few over-active (and not too great quality) candidates from applying again & again and choking the bandwidth of the interview process and the time of the interviewers.

You might not like the cool-off period as a candidate, but it makes good sense for the company.
