Is your company optimising their spending?

My current company is cutting JIRA costs and discontinuing their subscription with them to cut costs, and is moving to Gitlab (🤡) for task tracking.

Are other startups taking similar steps?

JIRA is garbage anyway. Just like every other product by Atlassian.

Gitlab isn’t any better, and it doesn’t have the same kind of organization in terms of Product Management. Very shortsighted move in my opinion.

We did this last year itself. Lol. Why are people doing it now. Optimised our aws bills so so much, we saved enough to hire a few folks. Same has been for all products. Removed whoever does not need to be there.

Zoom is pretty bloated these days. Used to open in a jiffy before.
We stopped with lots of monthly reward packages. Lesser parties

Yes, a lot moved to Google meet from zoom and a lot of new tools and subscription

In your experience, what are some early signs that help detect incoming layoffs at a startup?

It could be company-wide, team specific or in a particular function only.

Hiring freeze, decreased marketing spend, founding team retreating away from day to day activities and meetings
