Is this a Gen-Z phenomenon?

The below comments about zepto leadership reminds me of another Gen-Z founders company - they had the exact same behavior:

  1. Founders can’t wake up early so they won’t be in office till 12-1 pm
  2. Out of the 2 founders, only 1 worked at any point of time. The second would either be on chilling or mentally/physically unwell.
  3. No meetings on time. Townhalls that are supposed to start at 6 pm won’t start before 9-10 pm. One hour meeting will stretch for 1.5-2 hour because focusing was so difficult for them.
  4. They did hire a bunch of senior people but couldn’t manage so most of them left and now the company runs with just freshers and interns.
  5. No scope of raising anymore funding now - so burn reduced a lot but at the expense of any growth. No new product and nothing exciting going on except for 1 product in 5 years

That pattern shows up across other apps, websites too. But it's apple vs android.

Is it me or there's nothing wrong with the way Zepto operates? If you have a problem with the way meetings are organized, please bring it up in front of everyone. Meetings being delayed is a good thing, meetings are quite unproductive. Apps setting prices of goods based on smartphone Metadata is a common practice being done by almost every e-commerce platform. Security is bad? Join the club. Every startup has terrible code and major flaws. They get smoothened out over time.

Ooooh everyone does it so zepto isn't bas. Atleast they're trying instead of spending time on apps. 👉😍📴😂😞📴😕📴😕🥳😍👉🎇👀😔🎈🤮🎈😭👀

We can cut the founders some slack. It's difficult, and they're humans too.

Customer data is profiled and security is dark. Guess the focus for Zepto is to build more dark stores but not good security practices. Does these guys and investors really care culture, practices, engineering? I wish they look at things beyond books.

Reddit guy, come over and share more insights here buddy.

This is the startup hustle culture and the reality is it's not suited for everyone. I think we need to keep reminding ourselves that pay package is legally termed as Compensation, and that's for a reason.

Stop and think how much of your life you are willing to forego for the higher compensation.

Tbh nothing is outrageous about any of this. Customer profiling using mobile phone is pretty standard in the industry.

My 3 cents on the Zepto story as a founder

Tldr; Fully support it.

I have 3 points

  1. I am a founder here. And one of the major yardsticks you make decisions as a founder is based on how successful startups similar to you did.

Self-righteous folks on Twitter and Grapevine wo...

New breed is here!

Gen Z generation, those born between 1990 and 2010, is bringing to the workforce a different set of values, behaviors, and expectations, creating ripples throughout workplaces.
