Is the news really informative or manipulating shit all the time?

Like every day I keep scrolling the news when I came across this article saying l that there is a record breaking 1.07 million job lost globally and it's due to AI. So I looked up jobs lost 10 years ago.. it's over 200 million.. like wtf!? Today if a president sneezes in the wrong direction, that impacts millions all over the world - how can 1 million be a significant number??
