Is the career trajectory of frontend / mobile engineers slower than backend / DS?

I have been noticing a pattern at a big Indian unicorn where backend folks are getting promoted earlier with less work to show for it..at all levels, from sde1 to sde2, from sde to EM roles..Backend just seems to have it easier. Their compensation is more, their trajectory and the work they do is considered to be more important to the company. How true is this?

Yes frontend/mobile folks earn less/get promoted slower
No, it's around the same rate

Don't want to offend anyone, but backend engineering is drastically more complicated and intricate than frontend engineering.

On the other hand front end engineering makes you want to gouge your eyes out far more than backend engineering.

I think depends on the company but yes majority of company and the senior folks there consider backend as superior. Even outside India u would get more recognition for frontend than in India
