Is TCS still retaining critical resource? If yes, what is maximum hike they can offer?

Hi All, I have been in TCS from approx. 3years, my current CTC is 5.5lpa. I am in support project. C2- Promotion is pending with HR and have commitment to approve it,once promotion window is open. As of now, i am not having any offer letter in hand but thinking to resign. Currently, i am critical resource in my project, If i resign now, will TCS retain me? If yes, what would be max. Hike they can offer ?

Please suggest if idea abt it, open for advices. Thanks in advance.

People in support projects have a very low chance of getting retained. Review your decision. I'll suggest getting an offer.

Thanks for your advice, I am having lots of dependencies which are known by delivery head as well as client side.

Tcs will not retain you and will not offer any hike. Thinking yourself as a critical resource is the biggest mistake, which people generally do and companies take advantage of that. First get some better offer in hand then take a y decision. 👍

Retention budgets are very low now. Even if they retain you they will over burden and exploit you. After retention the annual hikes and promotions are delayed. Also their behaviour towards you will change. It's better if you resign then don't recall.

In exceptional cases they will retain you only if you get an offer with a 20-30% hike and they will try to match the offer, but if you have any offer above 50% they will not be able to match the offer. But if you get an offer I would suggest to leave this place.

I have already left the sinking boat and boarded the ship 🙂

I got retained but the hike is not much as what you have in hand they will match by giving you catch such as if your salary is 10 lk and you get offer with 60% they will provide you 50% hike and with a catch of retention bonus will be yearly wise such as two years you should stay in company to add it to monthly payment .

Best case scenario is they’ll offer you 50% on your current CTC i.e. 8.25 LPA. And that too goes through a lot of approvals, they will ask you to revoke your notice and say its been initiated and pending with HR. Fast Forward 2 months they’ll find a replacement for you and inform that HR did not approve the hike. You will be simply nowhere!

Get a new job, resign and leave. Or else if you are bold and don’t have responsibilities resign, get an offer and leave.

Get some offer and then put a paper.

  1. They will not retain you. They will accept your resignation. When business has arrived some problem then they will take any senior resource and put in this project. Current trend if you are very much dependent, they will replace you with senior no option to retain.
  2. Considering you are going to retain they will give only perks and false promises. If you have an offer, you can at least negotiate to get the same good package.
  3. My suggestion: Take an offer and fly away from TCS. Early career switching is easier than experience
