Is Support Project worth to pursue?
Dear all,
I have joined TCS in 2020 as a fresher, initially I was assigned in a global insurance project as Java Developer and was able to work in it for 5 months. Suddenly my senior Manager switched me from Development to Support in the same project due to resource unavailablity.
Here in support I was asked to work in JAVA, SQL, MAINFRAME. There is no much excitement in the work since it is a support majority of the process are same and documented well, so It was smooth. but due to lack of resources, every support person was asked to work more than 9 hrs. since my business starts earlier in morning I will login around 6 AM and my shift will be extended until 7 PM based on the day's work.
After working for 2 yrs. I asked for a switch to development since the application I supported became stable due to my efforts. But the manager now is not accepting the switch.
I thought it is better to switch to some other company. I attended interview at CTS and was able to grab an offer of 9.5 LPA which is almost a 100% which I get in TCS. Some rats in my project got to know about this and this news reached to my manager. now he is luring me with an assurance of onsite and promotion to IT analyst.
It is worth? Requesting your assistance due to this dilemma..

Don't fall for these fake promises buddy, promotion will barely give you 10-15% hike and coming to onsite it is never gonna happen they will keep on extending that opportunity by telling rubbish reasons, overall it's a big trap and dont fall in it. 100% hike is very good considering your current yoe, my suggestion would be please switch the company.

Onsite is a carrot. Promotion will give you only 15%
