Is MBA a good option in 2026 and after

Thoughts on mba for 1.5 years exp as software Engineer. How is the market outside? Should I start preparing?

To personalize more, I am 23(M) with 1.5 years experience as of now., 20LPA. Seeing layoffs right at the start of my career and thinking growth in the long term for me in Software does not look good. lam from middle classs bg so wanting more job stability, my parents are dependent on me.Just want to know the opportunities and better growth other than this. I got to know about MBA and govt jobs. But starting a career as SDE now shifting to govt jobs doesn't work ig because of perks, WLB, weekend. Flexible work hours. So looking at what the MBA offers and is it right for me or not. Is product Manager a good option in tech?

Or just go with this current role which lam not interested in doing for the next 20-25 years, but it is paying my bills? Thinking about taking a home loan once my career is sorted for Long term, can't go with this uncertainty.

MBA is not an alternative to working as an SDE, and it automatically doesn't lead to anything.

MBA is just a degree for learning Business Administration, and understanding the different aspects of how businesses work.

After that, how you choose to apply that knowledge and understanding is up to you.

You can apply that to Software Engineering roles also, like Enterprise Architect role, or to management roles within IT industry itself. Or you can change fields and go into Finance or Business Consulting.

Or you can use that knowledge and understanding of businesses to become an entrepreneur and start & run your own business.

So first figure out your goals and career path in life. Then do your MBA to gain the business knowledge and understanding to how to achieve that.

Good luck! 👍

Looking at your package, MBA will not add much in terms of package but if you need IIM tag and overall exposure then you can go ahead

Do it from top colleges like a/b/c/isb/fms/l
Dont go beyond that. Also the avg salary is around what you are currently getting.
