Dont compromise on ram, when ram gets used up physical storage will be used as ram (swap memory). And when it gets used a ton you'll have a lot of read/writes on the drive which will lead to quicker degradation. If and when the ssd bricks you'd have to replace the whole board

Ok

My 40k laptop in 2016 came with 8 GB RAM. If you are buying any laptop now above 50k, it should have at least 16 GB RAM.

Ok

The real question is would you only learn frontend or switch to other topics as well? 8gb for just frontend learning and development should be enough. But as soon as you move into other areas like android, game dev or heavy backend stuff like running docker containers and k8s it would be a bottleneck. To be safe, go for 16gb if you can. You might find better deals with M1 or M2 processors

Okk

I am glad I was interested in BE. Got a cheap dell laptop in college and spent money on Azure, AWS, GCP etc.

Bro, just get a decent laptop, intel i5 equivalent, 8 GB RAM. That's enough for development. Add a GPU if you want to explore AI/ML. Anything apart from this will be either for show-off, or daddy's money.

Cool
