"Is it too late to switch careers at 30? Seeking advice on moving from banking/construction to tech or product roles."
I’m 30 years old and currently working in institutional banking sales (1 year). Before this, I spent 3 years in the construction industry after completing my BTech in Mechanical Engineering. In 2024, I completed my MBA in Operations & Marketing and transitioned into banking.
Now, I’m considering a career shift into tech, ERP consulting, or product management. However, most opportunities I come across either come with a salary drop or require starting from scratch, which makes the transition difficult. Additionally, I have family pressure regarding marriage, adding to the challenge.
Has anyone here made a similar career switch in their late 20s or early 30s? How did you manage the salary gap and expectations? Any advice on transitioning while maintaining financial stability? Would love to hear your experiences!

Did u face any issue applying for mba at 26/27? Btw which college did u get mba from
You will not face any issues while applying for an MBA. In fact, your experience will give you an edge over others during admission. However, problems may arise during placements, as many companies have age criteria. For example, VECV and Tata Power impose age restrictions for candidates above 27 or 28 years. Similarly, you cannot apply for TCS Tech MBA if you are above 28.
Is there issues if i say completr my 2 year mba at 29?
I did after spending 10 years in a bank
Yes, you should get married, if you genuinly finds a right life partner.
However, for making a career in 30's by switching to tech domain, can be some tough but, will be right decision.
You just have to focus on core and required tech skill, with projects. Then start giving interviews.

You can switch to digital product management within banking itself which later will open you for fintech. BUT starting from scratch ( or Lower levels) is the price you gotta pay.
