Is it too late for me?

I am fed up of working as a RPA Developer, I don’t want to do it anymore. Is it too late to switch to a backend developer role? It has always fascinated me but the field has become just too competitive, there’s so much to learn and do. At 5.5 years of experience I don’t know what companies will expect of me? I am in serious need of a field change!!!

Thoughts?

PS- Is anyone hiring a novice backend developer of 5 years of experience? 😅. I’m a quick learner BTW.

5.5 is not too late to change your life

The field is too competitive and every job description tech stack is different. Honestly it's very scary!!

I changed from Finance to (Tech) Data after 7 years. What worked for me:

  • bluffing in resume with keywords related to the field I wanna get into
  • having some fake stories to tell the interviewers around projects related to those keywords. Only when asked
  • show confidence, smile, be calm and tell about some quick learning success stories. If the interview goes 50-50, your soft skills will be a deal breaker so be confident and speak well

I am thinking to shift roles at 10r years exp, 5.5 yrs is nothing much!! As people say best day to change yourself was 5years ago, 2nd best day is today! All the best!!

My biggest doubt is that do I need to write fake experience in my resume? Or there are good companies which encourage field change?

You need to fake if it's a 0 handson role you are going for, you can take 3years of exp may be, prior to that 2yrs RPA maybe
