Is it really bad decision to resign without offer in hand ?

I am currently planning to resign up skill to the most and then switch job but whoever I discuss this with always ends up with the same closing note do not resign without offer . But I feel that a break is necessary!

I did it once. Probably the best decision I've taken. The work culture was toxic and the payment was way below what I deserved. Within 15 days I had an offer in hand. Just a few cautions

  1. Once you quit don't try to balance work and interview. Interviews are all you focus on
  2. Maybe more important. Have emergency fund to feed you for next 3 months
  3. Don't be picky about interviews. Interview everywhere and decide while joining
  4. Don't seem desperate in salary negotiation. Nobody revokes the offer just because you asked for more

It does nit work out for everyone. Worked out for me but I would not suggest doing that since circumstances are not same for everyone.

There should be solid plan or backup option like financial support, else we don't have option other than continuing job. Take some 1 month leave with some or other reason, on some planned path. Just like upskill and getting job, it's not easy in this market.
