Is it possible to get out of project without getting released from the manager?

It's been 2 weeks since I've joined the project in TCS. I haven't been tagged to any roles yet. They are not giving me to work on the technology which they have mentioned before my joining. Now the manager is not giving me the release. How do I get out of this project?

Medical certificate like what specifically? What I read from other posts is that HR is just puppet of managers. Anyway, I'll definitely gonna try this. Do let me know if there is any other way out.
