Is it okay to back out after accepting an offer if I'm not willing to relocate?
Hi everyone, I need some guidance.
I recently got an offer from XYZ company for a KBE Engineer role with a package of 9 LPA (fixed) and a 2-year bond. I attended the final round at their Noida office — they even booked my flight and cab. Later, I received the offer cum joining letter (DOJ is July), and I accepted it.
However, I'm currently working in TCS, and I don’t want to relocate to Noida. I accepted the offer mostly because I thought it might help me get a better counteroffer in Bangalore, where I actually want to work.
Now, the XYZ HR is asking me to send soft copies of documents like resume, marks cards, Aadhar, PAN, etc. But I’ve decided not to join them.
My question is: If I back out after sending the documents (but before the joining date), will it cause any issues in the future? And can I still use this offer for negotiations or a counteroffer elsewhere, like in Bangalore?
Has anyone done this before? Would really appreciate your thoughts!

Hey.. We need to be careful about the first offer. As based on that we put down the papers and then counter offers follow. If things don't work as planned, we always have the first offer. If you do not want to join, then you are back to stage 1 and need to start over.

I think inform them well in advance.
Yes, you can use this offer during negotiations.
