Is it better for an SDE to get terminated or resign in the Indian market?

To me it seems better to let them fire you, and enjoy the severance pay. But what are the disadvantages of doing this? Why do so many people voluntarily resign?

Well having a red background verification can definitely screw careers. You never know how one could end up missing out on opportunities because of one red bgv.
