Is it bad that I still live with my parents at the age of 26?

I'm 26 and still living with my parents. I help out at home and work whenever I can. Rent is too high right now, so it'll be a few years before I can move out. It feels more common these days. What do you think, what should I do?

There is no need to westernise everything. Living with family, the Indian system is a blessing. Don't fall for the nuclear family nonsense. In a skewed taxed country like ours the joint family system is the true safety net.

Don't fall for the liberal nonsense and bollywood saas bahu brainwashing.

I mean it is not bad but you should learn how to live by yourself as welll.

Else, what is the point of living your life, if not the pursuit of experiences?

Why you want to move out bro? If there's a job or something else then it's fine but why just move out because you are a 26 now, what's the point of following western style?

I lost my father in covid. Now i regret every moment when i was not home that I could spend time with him.

Bro you are blessed that you have your parents with you. Parents are getting old, spend time with them that you cherish. Take care of them in their old age. They really need that. I hope you can understand. That's what i think about it. There's nothing wrong with living with your parents throughout your whole life.

Pay your parents some rent, split expenses that you use and live as their tenant. No use wasting money paying rent to someone else if you do not have space issues. But try to be financially independent from parents.

Have boundaries on what your house responsibilities are. Imbibe some independence in your life. Like cleaning the room, managing your food, groceries.

Read it somewhere so paraphrasing: We leave warm food and comfort of a home just to live in tiny homes eating cold meals. I feel this to be true. I say let others think atleast in long run you will have a healty body and mind🙂

Don't need to move out if you actually like living with parents. It's a huge cost saving and its nice to come home to someone instead of living alone.
