People making above 1L dont say we cant afford kids rather we don't want kids as they don't fit into lifestyle. Never heard anyone not having kids due to monetary reasons, wo krne k baad samajh aata h nhe krna tha.

I honestly feel with the growing expenses and amount of time one has to spend in constantly upskilling, having 1 child itself is a huge deal. I don’t want to have a child and be emotionally and physically unavailable for them. The future scares me. I want to work till the age of 60 but with with the speed things are heading towards and with the advent of AI, it gives me sleepless nights. Guess having children will be a luxury in the future.

You are on point. I have one kid and fall in the 1L salary bracket and it is really tough if you want to properly care for them.

I’m working from home and yet i can’t find time to upskill, hell even my regular work takes double the time to complete because of constant interruption of my flow.

I had 10 days holiday and couldn’t even take 2h per day to upskill.

I’ve decided that I will only have a child when my in hand salary per month is at least 2 lakhs. I feel one’s life is doomed if they have a child. Career, personal time, health, wealth- everything goes for a toss.

It's not analysis paralysis but the linkedin OP is living in a cocoon.
Lower middle class and poor see children as a future ticket of financial stability. Esp beyond tier 2, more children more earnings for the family.

Money might be a reason to not have a second kid.

When you have a mix of a generation incapable of taking mature decisions with a future that's uncertain their natural option is not to procreate. After all, it's all about natural selection at work.

'afford' in this context mostly means the lack of time that these couples have to spend with kids as they have to forgo a bit of work side productivity which they don't want to do given their aspirations to grow quickly.
