Is it advisable to get a fake experience certificate?
Recently one of my college friend reached out to me asking this question. He worked in a couple of IT companies after graduation for less than a year but had to abscond as they were not paying him (or were delaying his salaries). So he switched to a non-IT field and has been working there since last 2-3 years.
Now he wants to switch back to IT again. Since he had absconded the previous two companies, he didn't receive any experience certificates. He got to know from somewhere that a certain person/firm provides fake experience certificates and reached out to me asking for advice. I told him that getting a job through fake experience certificate could be very risky, if caught, the consequences could be severe.
It's only been around 4 years since our graduation, so I told him to start fresh, try applying for fresher roles.
But I was curious to know, what exactly could be consequences of using a fake certificate and whether the companies do find out that the experience certificate is fake?

It is ok to join a small local startup company. All the MNCs do thorough background verification. Once after a couple of switches, the first fake one needs to be removed to join a MNC
