Is it advisable ( or even safe) to join TCS now?

I am an automation tester with 8YOE. I have received an offer of 34.5 LPA from TCS, but i am concerned about joining because of recent layoffs. So need advice on whether it is safe to join TCS Now.

Btw i also have an offer of 32 LPA from COFORGE, but i am less inclined towards it as i have to relocate to gurgaon from kolkata.

Kindly help me choose.

TCS :

  1. I wont have to relocate, close to my hometown
  2. Somewhat inexpensive real estate and cost of living
  3. Worried about recent layoffs and reduced bench period
  4. Very less future prospects

COFORGE:

  1. I already know the client, and they are great.
  2. Expensive real estate and cost of living
  3. Have to relocate
  4. Pollution
  5. Very high future prospects in gurgaon
  6. No friends or family

I genuinely appreciate the advice. And yes i get your point, that i should keep adapting and upskill myself, which i do. And as you suggested to accept the best opportunity, but that is the dilemna , i am not able come to a conclusion, which is the best opportunity right now.

Based to the information that you provided, I would say TCS is the better option of the two.

Also, the poll votes from the GV community seem to agree with that

Global events change, market conditions change, companies change, personal life conditions change, - there is never perfect safety anywhere ever in life.

So we have to take the best opportunity available at any given time, and then constantly readjust as the world changes in the future.

So take whatever you think is the best opportunity available at this current time. If that is TCS, join TCS. If you happen to get laid off from there at some future date, then at that point you go and join some other company. Or if you don't get laid off, then continue with TCS.

Stop chasing permanent safety - that doesn't exist. Keep adapting to the changing conditions with time, that is the only safety in this world.

Good luck! 👍
