Voilent crime happens in every country. One violent crime doesn't mean India is not safe. Take some basic precautions and we are a safe country. 130 cr population, the crime is very less.
It's all relative, there's not a fixed score on scale that we'd consider passing marks for being safe or unsafe.
india statistically lies in middle of spectrum, safer than something like yemen, pakistan unsafe compared to bhutan, finland etc. that being said even USA & UK have higher crimes against women wrt to Scandinavian countries.
India just has added disadvantage/advantage of pay to play system in aftermath of such crimes, it is what it is
There's not a single country in the world that is 100% safe for a male or female. Every country has some level of crime against both genders, and it is what it is. You cannot simply make your mindset for one country to be the capital of a specific crime in the world.
