Is Duolingo really useful?
I mean he's not wrong (from my personal experience). I used to try and learn German on Duolingo during lockdown and had reached a streak of 250. But when I look back, I feel I couldn't even speak 3-4 lines in German at that time let alone today. I understand there can be various reasons behind that. Just curious has anyone managed to gain fluency in any language via Duolingo?

I played with the cricket bat daily for 5 years even posted streak on snap with my bat to know my total days effort but did not get selected to IPL or even to domestic, I feel I should blame the bat or invent a new sport

Gamification companies only care about DAU/MAU, let’s make users addicted to maintain the streak and based on active users numbers, raise funding and burn more and grow more $$$$

I started using Duoligo to learn Japanese, tried it for a month . Learnt a few words , that’s all. Although I didn’t continue due to other reasons, but i find the app quite gamified. Not sure if there are better apps or platforms in the market for the same.

I feel the same. Came across this research paper discussing it's effectiveness in improving foreign language knowledge:

You cannot achieve fluency in any language solely through Duolingo, but it is a fantastic supplement to the language you are learning. I'm an active user of Duolingo with a streak of over 300 days.

Really? What language are you learning, it's been a year for you
